Anything wooden or leather that carried the Brigg name in Great Britain was considered the finest, and this very large example checks all the right marks. At 35" in length, it had been custom built and cuffed for someone with a large handle that is 5.5" across. It's in great condition. The collar carries "Brigg London" and a series of hallmarks that show the maker as "M J", made in London, Sterling, and a date I just can't read. Early 1900's. The strong and thick bamboo shaft is 3" in circumference at the handle, and has remained almost unscathed after all these years. The bi-metal ferrule shows only light wear on its bottom. This should be considered a cornerstone cane for any serious collector, because it's got a Brigg label on it, a pedigreed and documented history, and it's a very rare bamboo example made in such a large size. This will always be considered a collectable classic.
